Current Skincare Routine (Oily Skin + Discoloration + Acne Prone)

Though I typically follow the tried and true mentality when it comes to purchasing skincare, I’ve been on a rampage of exploring new skincare products. I am slowly becoming somewhat of a skincare hoarder and there are no signs of slowing down. In fact, sometimes I get anxiety staring at my vanity since every product is vying for my attention like, “ Hey you, over there, pick me, pick me you asshole!” Well, maybe I have an over imagination..

But you know what, I’ve discovered some pretty awesome products once I decided to widen my skincare horizon. So today on the blog, I thought I’d share a quick review of some cool products I’ve been trying.

Skin Authority Exfoliating Cleanser

The Skin Authority Exfoliating Cleanser is a pretty straightforward and basic exfoliating face wash that is ideal for all skin types. If you’re looking for a gentle exfoliator to use on a daily basis, this cleanser is right up your alley. I love the way the micro pumice feels against my skin.

Skin Authority Vitamin A Cell Renewal

After a month of using the Vitamin A Cell Renewal, I could see a noticeable difference in the overall texture and brightness of my skin. My complexion was more even toned, and acne scars were diminishing. I have combination skin that is acne prone, with large pores and discoloration; therefore any products claiming to brighten discolored skin is welcomed to live on Sharon’s vanity.

From the perspective of someone with oily skin, I experienced tighter and more matte complexion. The product is nondrying and nonirritating.

Puristry Restorative Facial Oil

My favorite part of my skincare routine is slathering the Puristry Restorative Facial Oil all over my face like butter on toast. This facial oil promotes healthier looking complexion and keeps my skin hydrated.

ExfoliKate Glow Moisturizer

I posted about this product recently on another post, read my review here.

Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment

As mentioned before, I have acne prone skin, so therefore I always keep some acne spot treatment laying around. I tend to break out during that time of the month.

I discovered this product during a late night-pimple-emergency Target run. It turned out to be an effective and inexpensive spot treatment with quick results.

Nia Sunday Detox Mask

The Nia Sunday Detox Mask comes out like mousse and dries as a thin peel-off mask. It sure is a whole lot of fun to layer globs of mousse on my face. I noticed smaller pores and clearer skin with every use.

Be sure to apply the product generously on your skin; it’s easier to peel off the product. It’s also effortless to wash off surprisingly. I’ve used other types of peel-off masks and had to wash my face multiple times to rinse everything off.

Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment

I use this heavy-duty mask when I have an important event coming up and only on my t-zone. It helps with blackheads, shrinking pore size, and promotes the overall clarity of your complexion. You will feel a slight tingle when you apply.

Freeman Cleansing Clay Mask

I use this creamy mask 1-2 times a week; it’s an inexpensive and excellent clay mask that makes your skin feel cleaner and less congested. I wear makeup on a daily basis and is prone to blackheads so therefore I need a good clay mask to clear pores and draw out toxins.

This mask has a pretty flowery scent to it which I don’t prefer.

Three Best Cruelty Free Makeup Removers to Try

Biossance Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Cloths

My first initial thought was that these cleansing cloths were as dry as the Sahara Desert. I had to burn through two packets to shed my waterproof eye makeup. However, placing the wipes on my eyes for a couple of seconds then gently rubbing did the trick here. Prior, I was using fast and furious swiping motions which were a no, no. This little difference in approach made my opinion of the product go from 2/5 stars to a 5/5.

After adjusting how I used the product, waterproof makeup came off gently and effortlessly. I love the convenience and the travel friendliness of the individual packets. Oh, did I mention they are alcohol-free and biodegradable? Go planet!

Biossance Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil

The thought of sleeping with makeup on is as unsettling as when you’re using the restroom and realize there is no toilet paper (happened at work once). Did you know your skin eats your makeup while you sleep? In other words, it is TERRIBLE for your skin. So for the sake of good skin and maximum skincare absorption, I go above and beyond to ensure the total destruction of my makeup before I hit the hay.

I use the Biossance Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil to melt away my cake face before I go in with my daily cleanser and Clarisonic. I would not suggest relying on face wash alone unless your makeup is minimal. I use approximately two large pumps for my face (I have a pretty big head). For waterproof eye makeup; I’ll pump out a little more product on my hand and go in with a q-tip or cotton pad. Mission sleep with no makeup, accomplished.

Makeup Eraser The Original MakeUp Eraser Makeup Remover Cloth

If I had to describe this makeup cloth in one word, it would be witchcraft. The tags say 100% polyester, but it forgot to mention 1000% black magic. Just add warm water to the cloth and gently rub off makeup in a circular motion. With a couple of gentle swipes, it effortlessly removed all my waterproof eye makeup. The results genuinely wowed me.

If you’re looking to purchase an affordable and effective makeup remover, this product is right up your alley. It is machine washable and reusable up to 1000 washes. However, not too travel-friendly in my opinion because who wants to jet set with a wet cloth. Not, moi.

Tom Ford: Lip Color & Honeymoon Eye Quad Review

Honeymoon Eye Quad

I am a neutral palette type of girl and not very explorative with eyeshadow colors. The day you see me sporting blue eyeshadow, you know I went and lost my damn mind. The Honeymoon quad is an awesome palette to push your eyeshadow boundaries without getting too crazy if you’re like me and only use neutral colors.

This shimmery palette is beautiful and very reminiscent of fall and the holiday season. The shadows are versatile, pigmented, build-able, and easily blend-able. I wore them out for 8 hours straight yesterday, without primer and colors only became slightly less vibrant. Overall they did a great job holding onto my oily lids for dear life.

Tom Ford Lip Color

Creamy, pigmented, smooth and incredibly chic packaging is “Lip Color” by Tom Ford. But is it worth the whopping $54?

My first impression was that this product was hyped up. A less expensive dupe with similar qualities is a dime and dozen. However, I tested this product out two days straight and discovered that the lasting power was pretty phenomenal.

The funny thing was that I was out shopping during the day, dressed like a hobo and wearing this flaming red hot lipstick. Trust me; it was a very odd combo. I could sense the stares of confusion. A part of me was secretly hoping this red would just fade already. But nope, it went on and on like a pendulum swing. Well done, Tom Ford!

Kate Somerville: All Glow, No Glitter Exfolikate Trio Review

ExfoliKate Glow Moisturizer

Typically, I would avoid the word glow or radiant like the black plague on my moisturizers, but I’m glad I made the exception here. You see I have oily skin and anything that claims to add radiance or glow would just make me appear like a hot greasy pan ready to cook.

I have been using the ExfoliKate Glow Moisturizer for about two weeks, and almost immediately I could tell my skin was softer, lumionus, and radiant. To my surprise, it did not make my skin more oily. The light, gooey texture of the product is another plus. It’s not sticky and absorbs into the skin very quickly. A little dab is all you need.

ExfoliKate

ExfoliKate and I have first acquainted seven years ago via small Sephora sample jar. And since then, ExfoliKate has been my to go facial exfoliator.

On top of having oily skin, I have large pores, acne scars, and black heads. I have noticed a significant improvement in my skin, including reduction of pore size, diminishing acne scars, and smoother skin.

Things to keep in mind when using ExfoliKate.

-Make sure your face is moist but not wet when you apply the exfoliator. You only need a dime size.

-It’s an intensive treatment so limit your use to 1-2 times a week.

-DON’T forget to use sunscreen.

ExfoliKate Cleanser Daily Foaming Wash

Creamy, non-drying, and makes your skin feel squeaky clean. It works well with my Clarisonic as well. The Cleanser Daily Foaming Wash is an excellent gentle cleanser for acne prone and sensitive skin.
